Lido Azzurro, a historic beach club in Catania located on the Playa di Catania, was first built in the spring of 1935 and remains the oldest beach resort on the Catania coast, as well as one of the oldest in Sicily. Except for a single summer during the Second World War, this iconic beach club in Sicily has offered residents of Catania and visitors from around the world an exclusive gateway to the Playa di Catania beach for over 80 years, delivering a unique seaside experience with a long-standing tradition.
The first “cabanas” at Lido Azzurro, a historic beach club in Catania on the Playa di Catania, replaced the small private bungalows that once stood on the sandy shores in the early part of the last century. Over the years, generations have grown up among the long rows of large blue and red cabanas, which became an iconic symbol of this renowned beach club in Sicily until the end of the century. In 1954, the central building was elevated and expanded, and today it hosts the reception and restaurant services—one of the historic landmarks along Viale Kennedy in Catania.
In 2001, Lido Azzurro, a leading beach club in Catania on the Playa di Catania, underwent a complete transformation along with other establishments on the Playa, following new environmental and service standards. The traditional cabins have been preserved, now redesigned with updated dimensions and installed on removable wooden structures to respect the natural beach environment. Large areas are dedicated to beach sports, families, and daily visitors, with services and facilities efficiently distributed across the 70,000 square meters of this modern beach club in Sicily.
Today the Lido Azzurro is part of summer memories of thousands of Sicilians and a tradition that still today is an integral part of many families of our city.

A huge and well-equipped beach club. I was with my mom and dog, and I've been to other beaches where they wouldn't let me in. However, the Lido Azzurro has eight dog-friendly spots, with large umbrellas and a shower where you can rinse off the salt water. The only downside is that they're all close together, and I ended up with an unfriendly dog next to me, which wasn't very pleasant. You should check first to make sure your dog is suitable for being around others, otherwise, let him sit outside, because I feared for my dog's safety that time. Besides this inconvenience, everything is fantastic; there's also a kiosk just steps away, very convenient.

Pathetic. They charge almost €20 for a sunbed with an umbrella in what's supposed to be a beach club. Their toiletries stay on the sunbed. The food area is completely closed; there's absolutely nothing to eat. The pool is closed and filthy green. To top it off, at the bar we ordered the worst piña colada of our lives for €12, which was supposed to include a snack that we had to fight over. Very unfriendly. Awful. If it's partially closed, they should warn you and charge less. A complete rip-off.

My friend and I wanted to enjoy a day at the beach. We chose Lido Azzurro and weren't disappointed. Shivam took care of us perfectly. He made sure we had everything we needed throughout the day. Thank you again for this wonderful experience! 😊

Very unfriendly staff. No shadow at the bar and no one wants to open any umbrella. We were rudely told to sit in the burning sun even though we bought drinks. Afterwards they called their boss who was told to check out tickets which was unnecessary and just a way to make us feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Avoid at all cost.Posted on Google![]()

My boyfriend and I decided to try a paid beach, picked this one, and absolutely made the right choice! The manager, Shivan, was incredibly welcoming; he explained everything and personally attended to all our needs. He is someone who truly knows his job inside out. We are so grateful for his hospitality—we had only planned to visit for one day, but the place turned out to be excellent: everything was clean, and the crowd was quiet and didn't disturb our relaxation. The bar has everything you could want and more, all at reasonable prices. Highly recommended!+0
